1. (20 points) Helping Hands. Did the council satisfy this mandatory Supreme program and organize or participate in a program addressing the needs of disadvantaged community members, such as the homeless, the addicted, or elderly?

NOTE: Credit for youth contests requires the council to submit a participation form to the State Community Director. To receive credit for youth events: The council must submit a participation form to State Community Director. The council must have at least 1 youth participate in the event. Events include: Free Throw Contest; Soccer Challenge; and Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest. Councils should also send the forms to the Supreme Council.

Supreme's recommended Community Programs include: Coats for Kids; Global Wheelchair Mission; Habitat for Humanity; Disaster Preparedness; Free Throw Contest, Catholic Citizen Essay Contest; and Soccer Challenge.

Councils are permitted to report programs that are not part of the recommended group as long as the program is a significant Community program.

Directors may deduct points for each program that is not a major or significant program consistent with the Columbian Award requirements.
