GRAND KNIGHT'S MESSAGE: Chris Wiebelt (225)292-8438 Email: Cwiebelt@aol.com

First, I hope everyone had a happy & safe holiday season.

As many of you know, the council has decided to discontinue Bingo as a source of revenue as of the end of January 2003. Therefore, fundraisers such as Superbowl Sunday will be our main source of funds in the future. We hope to see most of our Brother Knights both participating in the cooking and participating in the fellowship.

Thanks to Brothers Tommie Mannino & Michael Hebert for their leadership with the Blood Drive & the Christmas Social. Both were highly successful. Also special thanks to the Ladies Auxiliary in organizing the Christmas Social.

Finally, Brother John Ellis has mailed to everyone their dues statement for 2003. Please return this to him (with your check) as quickly as possible.

Vivat Jesus.  Chris

Happy New Year everyone! It’s hard to believe that 2002 is over and 2003 is here already.

Many thanks to our members and the Council members who assisted with the activities that occurred last month. Some of our members prepared food for the Bishop Ott Shelter while others graciously volunteered to serve the meal to the residents. Breakfast with Santa was a success again this year even though the number of attendees was down from previous years. At these events, Knights were present lending their valuable assistance. In addition, the Council’s Family Christmas social was very well attended and many thanks to those who brought food.

Super Bowl Party: At this time the Council is planning, as a fundraiser, a Super Bowl Party on Sunday, January 26th, at the Parish Activity Center. Tickets are to be pre-sold for the event that is to include a meal. The Council will be planning more fundraising events in the future as they have decided to discontinue hosting bingo sessions twice a month.

Bus Trip Fundraiser: The Auxiliary’s annual fundraising bus trip has been scheduled for Thursday, February 27th. The trip will be to Cypress Bayou Casino. The price is $6 per person and departure will be approximately 9:30 a.m. Those going will have opportunities to win prizes on the bus while traveling. Contact Teenie Bajon at 273-1557 to reserve a seat. Since this is an Auxiliary fundraiser, even if you can’t go, you should still consider donating $6 and/or a prize to be used in the raffle and bingo games held on the bus. All proceeds will benefit the Auxiliary and the various programs so please give your support. Due to the date and time of this event, our auxiliary meeting will be moved to Thursday, February 20th at the Parish Activity Center.

Upcoming Events: KCA of Louisiana, Inc. bowling tournament on Saturday, January 18th at the River Bend Lanes in LaPlace; KCA sponsored Pro-Life Mass January 26th at 11:00 a.m. hosted by St. Jane de Chantal Auxiliary of Abita Springs; Sweetheart Dinner at a time and place to be announced; KCA meeting in Lakeland on Saturday, February 15th; and the card tournament on Saturday, March 15th in Covington.

Reminder: Our January meeting will be on Thursday, January 23rd at 7 PM in the meeting room at the Parish Activity Center.

Auxiliary members who are into computers and would like to receive updates via e-mail are invited to provide your address to the Auxiliary President. All addresses will be kept confidential and used strictly for Auxiliary business.

                                                Shirley Bonaccorso, President
