Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities
The Supreme Office and State Office appreciate all the hard work each Council has done over the many years of hosting Tootsie Roll Drives to raise money to support many different CPID programs across the state. The efforts made have affected so many lives over the years, and we want to continue these valiant efforts to help those who need support and understanding.
To do this, we want every individual council to handle either raising money through Tootsie Roll Drives or other fundraising on their own and not depend on the State to order or supply resources from the Tootsie Rolls moving forward.
Please share your success stories with the CPID Chairman so we can promote these awesome opportunities with others across the State and motivate other Councils to support the CPID Programs in their areas.
Our most significant support should be to St. Mary’s Residential & Community. St. Mary's mission is to provide a loving, spiritual community that allows individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve their full potential. In the beginning, Alexandria Bishop Charles P. Greco (Former State and Supreme Chaplain) found the need to create a school/training Center catering to youth with physical or intellectual disabilities, and families could not bear the burden of caring for these children. They have been doing so for 70 years this past year. Why do we promote St. Mary’s so much? They have taken in children from families in all 64 parishes across Louisiana, still to this day. They are the largest Catholic/religious-based community home in Louisiana. If you want to know more about St. Mary’s story or ways to give, go to StMarysAlexandria.org.
For those who want to give to local Schools, CPID homes like Holy Angels, or places we have yet to hear about, please donate to any of the above to support them and the CPID Students. Consider the great charitable work that these schools or programs do for “God’s special Children!”
Don't forget to use our online form to report your council's donations to the State Program Director to get credit for the State Deputy's Award.
